The famous Rosenstolz music video - "Es tut immer noch weh" was released in 2003. The group was founded in 1991 in the Berlin-Friedrichshain area. The songs, almost always in German, can be attributed to the intersection of styles such as pop, cabaret and rock. Especially at the beginning of their careers, the lyrics of the group were ambiguous. In the early to mid-nineties, the Berlin media used the term “extravagant pop” (“Mondänpop”) to describe the band's style. Since about 2000, elements of chanson receded into the background, and features of pop music became more and more noticeable. Today Rosenstolz is one of the most popular German-speaking groups.
