Paul Oakenfold

Musician, Singer, Producer
Real name: Пол Оукенфолд (Paul Oakenfold)
Country: Great Britain
Carier start: 1980
Genre:
Paul Oakenfold began his DJing career in Ibiza, where he threw acid house parties and the then balearic beats genre. Fashion events caught the attention of British (especially Manchester) musicians, for whom Ibiza was a favorite vacation spot, and soon Paul and his colleague Steve Osborne began receiving orders for remixes from Happy Mondays, The Cure, INXS and U2. In 1989, Paul opened his own label Perfecto, where he also initially released Balearic house, but this wave soon passed and Oakenfold switched to trance, at the same time becoming one of the first stadium DJs. In 1993, Paul embarked on a world tour with U2, and two years later became the first DJ to play on the main stage of Glastonbury. His set gathered more than 90 thousand viewers then. Perfecto was doing great too. The label was known around the world thanks to such artists as BT, Tilt and Grace (this pop project was patronized by Oakenfold himself), and in our country it became famous with the release of PPK's single "Ressurection".

In 2002, Paul signed a contract with Madonnna's Maverick label and began recording his first solo album. Disc "Bunkka" became a kind of bridge between club and pop culture. Almost every track featured a new vocalist (Ice Cube, Tricky, Nelly Furtado and even Perry Farell from Jane's Addiction were noted on the album), and the style ranged from light trance to hip-hop. The disc sold millions of copies, and the most successful was the single "Southern Sun" with vocals by Carla Werner. Paul began to work closely with Madonna, recording remixes for almost every single, and also went on tour with the singer. Many people remember Okenfold's set at Luzhniki, where the Englishman surprised everyone with Zemfira and a remix of the Technologiya group. 2006 saw the release of Oakenfold's second album, A Lively Mind, clearly targeting the American market. Dancing eclecticism was replaced by tough electro house, and Pharell Williams and actress Brittany Murphy, whose voice sounds on the track "Faster Kill Pussycat", appeared as guests. Recently he has been actively working in the film industry. His music sounds in the films "Austin Powers - Goldmember", "Speed Racer", "The Bourne Identity".
