On March 31st, young soul-pop artist Parson James released his debut EP The Temple - and also presented to the public the video of the same name, filmed in the church, which served as a set for the movie "Kill Bill".
James's work is thoughtful, mature and courageous about themes: while his songs are pop music at their best, there is room for issues such as the nature of sexuality, race and parenting. Naturally, these themes appeared in his debut video: the video filmed children from LGBT communities, dressed in the robes of church choirs.
“The video on 'Temple' reflects the difficulties that I faced at a young age - misunderstanding on the part of others and alienation from those whose opinions were so important and dear to me,” explains James. “I've tried for too long to please others, trying to become what I wasn’t, when all I had to do was learn to love myself. The meaning of this song is to inspire people so that they learn to be proud of themselves. "
