Joe Cocker - Take Me Home

Текст песни: Maybe we're standing on the threshold With our eyes open wide Let the river keep on flowing We can reach the other side Caught in this endless revolution Under helicopter skies And to lose becomes unthinkable And to win is the only road now There's a bridge over the water I can see it like a rainbow If you love me I'll be waiting Take me home to the other side All the men and all the women Who sacrifice their love Never taste what we took for granted No they don't know love at all Some of them broken some of them wounded And so cynical from the pain I was quiet as a graveyard Till you heard me calling out your name There's a bridge over the water I can see it like a rainbow If you love me I'll be waiting Take me home to the other side Life was victorious Now it can't be denied We'll stand together Cause love is on our side There's a bridge over the water I can see it like a rainbow If you love me I'll be waiting Take me home to the other side

Joe Cocker –
Born in Sheffield, England on May 20, 1944.

His father, a civil servant, gave the guy the opportunity to get a secondary education, and left him to choose the further path. John chose: he moonlighted as a gas plumber apprentice during the day, and performed in pubs at night. Changing his work uniform for a dark suit and bow tie, the aspiring musician took the stage under the name of Vance Arnold and performed famous pop, soul and blues songs.
His favorite numbers were things from the "Ray Charles" repertoire "What'd I Say" and "Georgia on My Mind". The backing musicians who accompanied John called themselves The Avengers. The X-Hour for Arnold-Cocker and his team came in 1963 when they played a section on the Sheffield City Hall stage ahead of the Rolling Stones concert. According to eyewitnesses, Vance Arnold and company looked very convincing.
–

Maybe we're standing on the threshold
With our eyes open wide
Let the river keep on flowing
We can reach the other side
Caught in this endless revolution
Under helicopter skies
And to lose becomes unthinkable
And to win is the only road now

There's a bridge over the water
I can see it like a rainbow
If you love me I'll be waiting
Take me home to the other side

All the men and all the women
Who sacrifice their love
Never taste what we took for granted
No they don't know love at all
Some of them broken some of them wounded
And so cynical from the pain
I was quiet as a graveyard
Till you heard me calling out your name

There's a bridge over the water
I can see it like a rainbow
If you love me I'll be waiting
Take me home to the other side

Life was victorious
Now it can't be denied
We'll stand together
Cause love is on our side

There's a bridge over the water
I can see it like a rainbow
If you love me I'll be waiting
Take me home to the other side
