The famous Björk clip - "Declare Independence" was released in 2008. Bjork's musical career began when she was 11 years old. One of the teachers sent a recording of the song performed by Bjork to the then only Icelandic radio station to broadcast the song. After that, she was offered a contract to record an album, and in 1977 she recorded her debut album with the help of her stepfather, who played the guitar. The album features Icelandic children's songs and covers of popular songs such as "The Fool on the Hill" (The Beatles) in Icelandic. The album went platinum in Iceland.
