The Chemical Brothers

Musician, Band
Country: Great Britain
Carier start: 1991
Genre: Pop music  Dance  Rap  Rock music  Electronic
The Chemical Brothers duo was born in London in 1992. At first, Tom and Ed called themselves The Dust Brothers, but after a lawsuit from the producer duo of the same name, they were forced to rename. "Chemists" moved in the wake of The Prodigy, also preaching a symbiosis of electronic music and rock, but if the Prodigy were by nature notorious punks, the Chemical Brothers did not stake on shocking. They looked like refined hippies, were inspired by Britpop and Madchester, and had friendships with Oasis and New Order. The brothers' hybrid of rock and breakbeat was called big beat and, picked up by artists like Fatboy Slim, immediately became fashionable. The band was bombarded with offers to record remixes for the stars of the scale of Primal Scream, Manic Street Preachers, Republica, Sabers of Paradise (whose leader Andy Weatherall contributed greatly to the rise of the group) and The Prodigy.

If Prodigy, having taken off to unprecedented heights, went into the shadows for a long time, then Chemical Brothers moved forward. With a frequency of once every two or three years, the group recorded albums, and at the same time and gradually moved away from the established framework. Every now and then the big beat was replaced by house, electro or even hip-hop, and more and more song pop-hits appeared on discs, suitable not for clubs, but for radio. Besides, Ed and Andy were always distinguished by their sociability, so it was not difficult for them to invite a famous vocalist to record the next hit. Noel Gallagher (Oasis) in Let Forever Be and Setting Sun, Richard Ashcroft (The Verve) in The Test, Kele Okereke in Believe ) from Bloc Party. Even the American rapper Q-Tip, who can be heard in the song "Galvanize", has worked with the "chemists".

The Chemical Brothers owe their success not least to the video clips. Spike Jonze's Star Guitar video, where each sound has an event in the video, has been compared to The Matrix. And the director's duo Dom & Nic became the band's staff clip-makers. They own as many as seven videos for the Chemical Brothers, including the MTV EMA award-winning music videos "Believe", "Salmon Dance" and "Midnight Madness".
