The famous INXS video "Kiss The Dirt" was released in 1997. On April 4, after a four-year hiatus, the tenth studio album of the Australian six was released. The new long-play was named Elegantly Wasted - it was the last in the band's discography, which was recorded and released during the lifetime of Michael Hutchence. As the tour in support of the new record advanced, Michael Hutchence's depression only worsened. On September 27, 1997, the band's last concert took place in Pittsburgh, Kansas. On November 21, the band had a rehearsal, and the next day, Michael Hutchins committed suicide. After the funeral of the soloist, the group ceased to exist for some time.
