Faithless is the most successful among the many brainchildren of British production duo Rollo & Sister Bliss. In the early nineties, they had a hand in a dozen dance projects, among which, for example, was the anonymous anonymous Felix. By the middle of the decade, tired of the leapfrog, the producers decided to start a permanent band for themselves, and they paid off. Faithless have pushed far beyond the club scene, not least thanks to the successful use of vocals in combination with dance arrangements. The permanent vocalist of the group was Maxi Jazz, who not so much sang as performed recitative lyrics, sometimes full of planetary pathos ("God is a DJ"), then acutely social ("Mass Destruction"). The female vocals in the group were initially performed by sister Rollo Dido, who became a big pop star four years later, and then, in 1996, she was still an aspiring singer. After Daido concentrated on solo work, Pauline Taylor was nominated for the role of vocalist, but the group did not shy away from inviting other voices from outside.

Early in their careers, Faithless performed a kind of pop version of progressive house, their tracks were equally well suited for both dance floors and radio stations. Not the least role in the formation of the group was played by the fact that, unlike most dance projects that preferred DJ sets to live performances, Faithless gave full-fledged concerts in an expanded composition with live musicians. Approximately every second single of the project hit the top ten of the British charts, and three compositions - "Insomnia" (which became the hallmark of the group), "Salva Mea" and "God Is a DJ" rose to the top of the US dance chart, which for a European artist has always been considered the most important indicator. Having mastered the dance format, Faithless began to experiment with downtempo rhythms and even Balearic chill-out music. A striking example of this is the track "Music Matters", but the general public is still better known for the dance remix from Axwell, for which a video was even filmed. In 2005 the band released a greatest hits compilation, which included several new tracks, a fresh version of "Insomnia", as well as a new interpretation of the track "Why Go", recorded by a duet with Estelle. Faithless was recognized by the film industry: their tracks sounded in the films "Beach", "Cruel Intentions", "Chasing Amy".
