Biffy Clyro

Singer
Genre: Rock music

In January 1995, 15-year-old schoolboy Simon Neil from Era decided to create a rock band. From the age of five he studied violin at a music school, but "Nirvana" made Neil a guitar fanatic. He quickly found companions in the person of 14-year-old drummer Ben Johnston and bassist Barry McGee, who was soon replaced by Ben's brother, James. They named the group "Screwfish" and after a couple of rehearsals on January 31st they played a concert at the local youth center. In 1997, the group, changing the name to the current one, moved to Kilmarnock, where the twins went to college as sound engineers, and Neil went to Queen Margaret College, not having decided on a specialty. Although the band was gaining local fame, there were no offers from well-known labels.
Biffy Clyro was soon produced by Dee Bol, who recorded the single iname in 1999 at the small studio Babi Yaga. The following summer, the same label released the mini-album thekidswhopoptodaywillrocktomorrow. Soon, his compositions were broadcast on local BBC Radio, and the band took part in T in the Park for the first time. At this major festival, she was noticed by Beggars Banquet Records, and a contract was soon signed. This label in 2001-2002 re-released several old compositions of the team. In 2002, the first full-length album, Blackened Sky, was released on it. The rave reviews from critics did not help the album to gain much popularity among fans, but it made it into the first hundred of the UK Albums Chart. The following year, the second album, The Vertigo of Bliss, was released, with an even more original sound due to the constant change of rhythm and a stream of distorted sounds. The equally difficult 2004 disc "Infinity Land" was once again well received by the band's fans. However, Simon Neal considered the group insufficient testing ground and in the same year created the project "Marmaduke Duke" with an even wider range of genres.
In 2006, the band was signed to 14th Floor Records, a Warner Bros. Records ". In 2007, the album "Puzzle" was recorded in Canada, the singles from which reached the top 20 of the UK Singles Chart, and he himself - the 2nd place in the album chart and gold status. Confirmation of the group's success was again the gold album "Only Revolutions" and two of his compositions in the top ten singles rating of the kingdom - 5th in Mountains and 10th in That Golden Rule.
