The Lyube group is a project that Igor Matvienko planned to implement in 1988. After a long search for a worthy candidate for this role, it was decided to make Nikolai Rastorguev, a member of the Leisya Pesnya ensemble, as a soloist.

However, the name of the group was not immediately invented. The collective's birthday is considered to be January 14, 1989, when the recording of their first songs "Lyubertsy" and "Old Man Makhno" began.

Actually, the first song also entailed the name of the group. However, Nikolai Rastorguev expanded the meaning of this word, because "lyube" in Ukrainian means "any, any, different".

Immediately after the recording of the first songs, the group rushed to their debut tour, although it was simply a failure. The composition of the group was as follows: Alexander Nikolaev - bass guitar, Vyacheslav Tereshonok - guitar, Rinat Bakhteev - drums, Alexander Davydov - keyboards. But the Lyube group is known for its inconsistent line-up, and the former, of course, changed very quickly.

Despite the failure of the first tour, the group performed at Alla Pugacheva's “Christmas Meetings” and in 1990 released an album entitled “We will live in a new way now”. However, this was only a prototype of the real album.

Thanks to the appearance in television programs, the team becomes popular and recognizable. "Lyube" becomes a laureate of the annual all-Union song contest "Song of the Year".

In 1991 the group released the first full-length album "Atas" with songs already loved by listeners.

In March, a series of concerts with a program entitled "All Power - Lube!"

Another way to attract the attention of the audience was the introduction of computer graphics with elements of animation during the filming of the group's first video for the song "Don't, play the fool, America." In 1992, viewers saw the video, the video made an impression, this incident is evidence of this: the famous music columnist Artemy Troitsky sent the video clip to the international festival "Midem" in Cannes without notifying the participants of "Lube". In 1994, the video received a special prize "For humor and visual quality", provoking heated discussions.

In 1992, the band released their second album "Who Said We Lived Badly ..?" On the disc were the following hits of the group: "Come on, play the fool, America", "Sheepskin hare", "Tram five", "Old master".

The group's next album, which was recorded over two years and was distinguished by a special quality, was released in 1994 under the name "Zone Lube" and was the soundtrack to the film of the same name.

On May 7, 1995, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Victory, the song "Lube" - "Combat" sounded for the first time on the air. Actually, it was planned to release an album by this date, but the disc was released only in 1996.

In 1997, a collection of the best songs - "Collected Works" and "Songs about People" was released.

After a two-year lull, the album "Polustanochki" is released. With each song the group becomes more and more popular. In November 2003, the album "Come on for ..." was recognized as "Album of the Year", which stayed at the top of the sales charts for almost the whole year.

Then, with long breaks, the discs "Russ" (2005) and "Svoi" (2009) were released. By 2008 two more parts of the Collected Works were published. In 2012, it is planned to release the collection "55".
