Nikita Legostev was born in Tolyatti in 1986 into a family of Volga Germans. As a child, he became interested in rap. Was a member of the group "Underground passage" (Togliatti). In 2005, St1m won the online battle on the Hip-hop.ru website by one vote. After that, a contract was signed with the KingRing label organized by rapper Serega.

After that, the performer began performing solo. Some of his songs and his first solo album "I am rap", released in 2007, were recorded in the style of aggressive German battle rap. However, there are no such tracks on the next album "Knockin 'on Heaven", which was released in Ukraine and Belarus in October 2008. The performer tries to form a new idea of himself in the audience, referring to the themes of simple human feelings, describes the life situations in which he and his friends had to find themselves. When recording a new album, Steam collaborated with German beatmakers.

On August 23, 2009, the presentation of St1m's solo album "Knockin 'on Heaven" took place.

At the end of 2009, the creators of the film "We are from the Future 2" invited Stim to work on the soundtrack, and in 2010 he recorded the official Russian version of one of the main hits of the World Cup - "Wavin 'Flag" with the Somali Keinaan (K'naan) ...

In 2010, KingRing and St1m label announced the end of their collaboration. The reasons for the termination of the contract are not explained. "October" is Steam's third solo album and his first work as an independent artist. Immediately after its release, it hit the Billboard charts ("Top-10 Urban" and "Application for Success"), and the video for the title song got into the rotation of Muz-TV and other channels.

In 2011, the joint song of Steam and Satsura, "Shadow Boxing" became the title track for the third part of the boxing trilogy, and in 2012, Russian and Ukrainian viewers heard the track "Knockin 'on Heaven" every evening in the intro of the series "Karpov".
