Who said omnivorousness necessarily leads to problems? There are also opposite, very successful examples - Chris Cornell, who started out as a hero of the alternative rock scene, managed to partake of all musical mysteries in his twenty-year career: he practically founded grunge, played traditional rock, and made a mark in pop music. True, he did not succeed in everything with the same ease. Cornell's path to the top was not so easy - but now he can afford any experiments.

When, in the mid-80s, Cornell, together with fellow musicians, founded his first "big" band in Seattle - Soundgarden - few people could have imagined that these guys, along with Nirvana and Alice In Chains, would become one of the main figures of grunge music in the 80s. x and 90s. But already by the second album, it became clear that a new, original band with an amazing vocalist had appeared on the rock scene - Cornell's strong, powerful, but at the same time sensual voice brought the group into a new orbit. This vocals, once heard, it was impossible to forget. By the mid-90s, the group already had five records, among which there were two bestsellers "Badmotorfinger" and "Superunknown". The hit "Black Hole Sun" is still one of the most frequently played grunge songs on the radio along with the creations of Nirvana and Pearl Jam - Cornell and his comrades managed to record hits, if not for centuries, then certainly for decades. But at the same time, Cornell became closer and closer within the grunge style, he wanted experiments, and his bandmates were not very willing to support this desire, and then Chris decided to look for help on the side.

The first of these experiments is a collaboration with Alice Cooper, for whom Cornell wrote the song "Stolen Prayer", included in Cooper's album "The Last Temptation". Collaboration with Cooper would not have worked if it had not been for the canceled concerts of Soundgarden - the relationship in the group became more complicated, and against the background of emotional throwing, Cornell began to have problems with his voice. The group first took a sabbatical, and then completely disintegrated.

Left alone, Cornell begins to work on his first solo album, and, thirsting for new experiments, invites the musicians of the gaining power group Eleven to work on the disc, but the album, called "Euphoria Morning", does not sell well.

At this time, Rage Against The Machine are looking for a replacement for the vocalist Zack de la Rocha, who left the group at the turn of the century. And then Rubin (producer) advised the team leader, guitarist Tom Morello, to invite Chris Cornell to audition. The musicians of Rage Against The Machine played with Cornell and realized that they had found a brother in spirit. The new band was named Audioslave and began work on the first album, for which Cornell suggested using the developments of solo material, which completely satisfied Tom Morello.

With Audioslave, Cornell worked until 2007, together the musicians recorded three studio albums, but then the paths of the rock virtuosos parted ways, and Cornell sat down to his second solo album. The first sign of it was the composition written for the new James Bond film - Casino Royale. The new Bond demanded a new approach to the title song - and here alternative rock and Cornell's vocal anguish came in handy: the song You Know My Name instantly became an international hit, and the album that followed it, Carry On, also attracted listeners' favor.

In 2008 Chris begins cooperation with the most popular producer Timbaland, with whom he records the album "Scream".
