The Black Eyed Peas
The Black Eyed Peas is a group unique in its way: it mixes funky black hip-hop with female r'n'b vocals - BEPs are devoid of the brutality of popular rappers and at the same time are not as corny as most r'n'b bands , although both of these principles are present in it.
Hip-hop training from the founders of the group, rappers Will.i.am and Apl.de.ap, however, is quite serious: at the university they were part of the breakdance team Tribal Nation, they signed their first contract with the Ruthless Records label, which specializes in gangsta rap (however, due to the softness of the sound, the album was never released). The first album under the name The Black Eyed Peas was released on the Interscope label - then, in addition to Will.i.am and Apl.de.ap, MC Taboo was included in the group. Singer Kim Hill was responsible for vocals on the first two albums. The first BEP records featured musicians such as Macy Gray, Jurassic 5's Chali 2na, De La Soul and Mos Def, but they never had commercial success.
BEP was widely successful with the release of the album "Elephunk" - when the sexy beauty Fergie joined the group. It was she who led Justin Timberlake to sing along on the band's first hit to the top of the charts, the soft r'n'b ballad "Where Is The Love", dedicated to the imperfections of American and world politics. However, the group managed frivolous little things much better: its subsequent hits-stormtroopers of the charts - "Shut Up" about love misunderstandings, a dynamo song "Don't Phunk with My Heart", "Pump It", riding on a sample borrowed from the song " Misirlou "by Dick Dale (known for Pulp Fiction), and of course Fergie's immortal hymn to her own delights," My Humps. "
Albums "Elephunk", "Monkey Business" and "The END" went platinum several times. Last year's "The END", which seemed to be released when interest in the band had clearly subsided, and more electronic oriented than the band's previous recordings, however, brought the BEP a new record for the total stay of two songs, "I Gotta Feeling "and" Boom Boom Pow "at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. The band is currently working on a new album. Each of the members of The Black Eyed Peas has either already released or is in the process of preparing a solo album.
