Michael Bolton's famous music video "Georgia On My Mind" was released in 1990. Despite the artist's excellent vocal abilities, his addiction to re-singing caused the anger of soul music purists, who called for boycotting his compositions and listening to classic hits, and not Bolton's "surrogate". Bolton's last major hit, "Said I Loved You ... But I Lied", was released in 1994, and two months later, Bolton's work was the subject of a high-profile trial, during which it was found that one of his songs was based on a classic melody of the sixties.
