Ellie Goulding

Elena Jane Goulding (born December 30, 1986, Hereford, England), better known as Ellie Goulding, is an English singer and songwriter. She gained notoriety after being ranked # 1 in the BBC Sound of 2010 poll and won the Critics' Choice Award at the 2010 BRIT Awards. After signing with Polydor Records in 2009, she released her first EP, An Introduction to Ellie Goulding, followed by her debut studio album, Lights.

Lights debuted at # 1 on the UK Alboms Chart and has sold over 850,000 copies in the UK. In December 2010, Ellie's cover of Elton John's "Your song" reached number two in the United Kingdom, and in April 2011, it took first place on iTunes for 3 weeks. The singer performed this song at a reception on the occasion of the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton at Buckingham Palace. In March 2011, the single "Lights" was released in the US, which peaked at # 1 on the Billboard Pop Songs chart, # 1 on the Billboard On-Demand chart, and # 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 almost a year and a half later, performing one of the longest climbs to the top two positions of the chart. The single, which has been on the Billboard Hot 100 for over a year, went triple platinum in the UK.

In October 2012, Ellie released her second album, Halcyon, which was equally well received by critics. The single "Anything could happen" hit the Top 5 in the UK and the Top 20 in Australia, New Zealand and Ireland. Halcyon debuted at # 2 on the UK Albums Chart and peaked at # 9 on the Billboard 200. The album also charted in the Top 5 in New Zealand, the Top 10 in Ireland and Canada and the Top 20 in Australia.
