Shoo

Talking about music is like dancing about architecture, Frank Zappa used to say, so he gently rustled about Shoo.

The founder and soloist of this project, the eponymous Shoo, in her young years managed to land in many ports of musical directions (jazz, rock, folk, funk, rnb, reggae, gospel) and, taking part of the land from everyone, set off further free from swimming shores. Studying music from the age of five, studying at various music schools in the class of folk vocal, academic solo and pop-jazz singing, by 2010 Shoo reached the fact that at the age of 17 she entered the Russian Academy of Music. Gnesins in the class of teacher Anna Rudneva. In parallel with her basic education, in 2009 and 2011, she undergoes an internship at the most prestigious musical institution in the United States - the Burkeley College of Music. For 12 years of creative activity, Shoo has taken part in many key competitions and festivals, among which the international festival "Jazz Voices" and the Interregional Charitable Foundation "New Names" by Denis Matsuev can be especially noted.

She sings like a red-hot icebreaker floats, not breaking, but melting the ice of the boundaries between liquid, solid, figurative and gaseous. So that the music can be seen, Shoo sets out to shoot video clips in such a way that it will be a real short film - with an idea, a climax and a "needle". A music video for her is the maximum embodiment of the facets of creativity, involving you in a round-the-world and dizzying voyage. She strives to be understood and heard so that the line between the host and the performing party was eliminated by the flood, and then the schooner Shoo could take you on a voyage in order to hear music and vocals not from the outside, but from within. This is exactly that “absolute soul” when the strings of your eternal gut resonate, making you a grateful co-performer. This is especially true with regard to the lyrics of songs in Russian, when the words are not just sewn to the fabric of the arrangement, like buttons on which they want to fasten you, in view of the native ear of the words, but are transplanted into the living tissue of the greenhouse, where they bloom in inflorescences of unprecedented beauty with many petals of poetic meaning ...

However, one involuntarily has to moor oneself from such concepts as "Russianness", because Shoo is a floating and swimming phenomenon, there are Russian texts, both English and African; there is European harmony, wide drum grooves and an abundance of "southern" percussion; use of traditional African instruments, Scottish, Russian and international electronic; many parts are performed by a folk choir, some - just a powerful layer of backing vocals, a kind of reggae gospel. Shoo's bold routes are based on the experience of the seasoned Russian fusion team Vision of Sound. Musicians who have a solid baggage of cooperation with the world's leading performers: pianist and keyboardist Dmitry Ilugdin, bass player Evgeny Sharikov, drummer Pyotr Ivshin and percussionist Vartan Babayan. At the moment Shoo plays concerts with various young Moscow musicians and participates in the work of various musical groups. This inevitably creates a single spherical space, where cabbage style leaves come from a "stump" of design, striving for unity in essence, erasing geographical barriers and translation difficulties.
