Vitaly Vladasovich Grachev was born on February 19, 1979 in Daugavpils in Latvia. Soon, his family moved to Odessa, where his grandfather lived. He graduated from school number 35 in Odessa. For three years he studied at the music school, accordion class. He worked in the theater of plastics and voice parody. As a child, he mastered the movements of Michael Jackson.
Came after 9 classes to Moscow. He released the music video Opera No. 2, worked on TV6, met in Odessa with Sergei Pudovkin, who later became its producer. Vitas' solo musical career began in December 2000, his unusual manner of performing in falsetto - high head register aroused public interest and brought popularity.
After Vitas's debut on the Russian stage, many listeners, experts and music teachers had a question, what is the secret of his amazing falsetto and how a man can sing in such a high voice that he sounds in Vitas's composition "Opera No. 2". The audience was also worried why the artist did not sing in the breast register. The producer of the performer Sergey Pudovkin explained that Vitas' extraordinary abilities are associated with a special throat device. However, Elena Kirashvili, associate professor of the vocal department of the Moscow Pedagogical University, noticed that Vitas performed not so much singing as recitative on low and middle notes. According to the expert, this is typical for performers who are not professionally engaged in vocals.
In 2002 Vitas and Pudovkin, at the request of the Council of the World League "Mind without Drugs", entered the board of trustees of the league and became its honorary members.
Vitas' benefit show on Channel One on January 10, 2012 was watched, according to the Kommersant newspaper, by more than 30% of the television audience, which became the most popular release of Andrey Malakhov's show “Let the Talk” in the 2011-2012 season.
As of 2013, Vitas made several solo programs during his career and traveled with them dozens of countries around the world. The singer also starred in the film Mulan (produced in China). Vitas' official fan club in China has more than 5 million people, and a statue is erected in Shanghai in his honor.
He performed duets with such singers as Nikolai Gnatyuk (the song "Bird of Happiness"), Demis Roussos, Lucio Dalla and with his paternal grandfather AD Marantzman, with whom he sings the song "Friendship".
In 2003, a criminal case was initiated against Vitas under Part 4 of Art. 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal sale of weapons). Then, according to the prosecutor, the case against Grachev was closed due to his active repentance.
Vitas is a citizen of Ukraine, registered at the place of residence in Odessa.
