Kate Nash
Kate Nash is the daughter of an Englishman and Irish (originally from Dublin). She was born on 6 July 1987 in London. Kate became interested in music as a child.
First, the girl studied at the John Fisher Catholic School, then she was transferred to the Jeanne d'Arc School, and finally she entered the London School of Performing Arts and Technology. At this time, all her interests were centered around the theater. And she was going to master this complex art at the prestigious Bristol theater school.
Alas, the selection committee did not consider the future Sarah Bernhardt in Kate Nash. She did not become a student at Bristol Theater School. But she firmly decided to enter the next year. In the meantime, she got a job at River Island, where she could only be offered the modest position of assistant sales manager. One not the happiest day, in early 2006, Kate fell down the stairs and broke her leg. An outlet for Kate was the composition of poetry and music. Parents presented a bass guitar to Kate.
Having recovered, Kate not only did not abandon music, but, on the contrary, decided to introduce unsuspecting humanity to her potential masterpieces. For her first recital at a nightclub, Kate earned £ 50. The next day, she quit her job at River Island. Her first performances consisted mainly of cover versions. Little by little, the aspiring singer began to dilute the sets with melodies of her own composition. And after a couple of months I decided that it was time to go out to a wider audience.
Kate Nash's songs have found shelter on the super popular MySpace website.
Around the same time, Lily Allen's career was gaining momentum, who, like Nash, made a major bet on the Internet - and made the right decision. Lily, who released her successful debut album Smile in the summer of 2006, was officially titled Kate Nash "next big thing". For Kate, it was tremendous support. Representatives of the mass media also sympathized with her. Materials about the 19-year-old singer and composer, who have not released even the seediest single yet, have already appeared on the pages of Vogue and NME.
In February 2007, Kate Nash could already boast of her record-breaking debut. The double single "Caroline's a Victim / Birds" has been released by the independent record label Moshi Moshi. The first edition of a thousand copies sold out in a few weeks.
Nash was signed to a division of Polydor, which released her second single, "Foundations" in June 2007. This composition made a splash.
Her first long play "Made of Bricks" (August 2007) drew controversy from the press. The singer was criticized a lot, nevertheless, the disc ended up at the top of the British charts.
In the summer of 2007, Kate had a great opportunity to showcase her talents on the largest stages in the UK: she played at such famous festivals as Glastobury, O2 Wireless, Isle of Wight and Latitude. The singer spent the end of the year touring the country and preparing songs for a new studio album.
