Dev was born in Tracy, California. The girl's mother and father had nothing to do with music, and the singer herself did not immediately choose this path. At the age of 4, Devin was enrolled in the swimming section, here she achieved great success, in connection with which she became a member of the US Olympic Reserve program. However, Dev abandoned this hobby, which threatens to develop into a profession. After graduating from high school, she entered college with the intention of studying art history and English.

Dev's musical career began when she posted her song "Booty bounce" on MySpace. The track was a huge success. The girl, of course, dropped out of college. Following this explosion in popularity, she was signed to Universal Republic in October 2010 and the singer released her first official single, "Bass Down Low" in December. The song debuted at # 94 in the US and # 10 in the UK. Dev's debut album "The Night the Sun Came Up" was released on September 20, 2011, and includes compositions in the styles of electro-pop, electro-crank and electro-hop.

On December 9, 2011, Dev gave birth to a daughter named Amy Love Gorekki, whose father is her longtime lover Jimmy Gorekki.
