The Velvet Underground

The Velvet Underground is an iconic American rock band of the 1960s and 1970s that pioneered alternative music. The name is often shortened to VU or The Velvets. Key members of the Velvet Underground are Lou Reed and John Cale (who took part in the recording of the first two albums), who relatively successfully continued their solo careers after leaving the group.
