Shamil

Born into a military family in the city of Nalchik (Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria). From 7 to 12 years old he lived with his family in Yakutia, then returned to Nalchik, where he graduated from the law faculty of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh. M. Berbekov.

In the late 1990s, Shamil moved to Moscow, where he performed in clubs. In one of them he meets producer Sergei Izotov, in cooperation with whom he begins his career as a singer. The peak of popularity falls on 2000-2003. The producer created a legend for Oscar, according to which he allegedly fell under a blockage in the mountains, spent several years in a coma and then sang [1]. In 2001, Oscar won the Golden Gramophone award for the song Between You and Me, but he never performed at the concert, because his producer spoke out against it.

In 2003, the singer fell out with the producer and lost the rights to the stage name and the performance of his songs: the reason for this was the song "Don't," in which Oscar spoke out against the war in Chechnya. A video was shot for the song, compiled from the military chronicle of the Chechen war, which was eventually banned from being shown on TV. Shamil moved to New York, returning to Russia only towards the end of 2008.
